The L Suite Plugin Brings Community-Powered Legal AI to ChatGPT

In May, we partnered with Anthropic to bring The L Suite's community intelligence directly into Claude, with our Lloyd AI connector. Members told us the same thing in many different ways: the collective judgment of your peers shouldn't live in just one place. It should be available where your work is happening.

So today we're taking the next step. We’ve brought the Lloyd by The L Suite and TopCounsel plugins to ChatGPT.

If your legal team works in ChatGPT, the collective judgment of 2,500+ GCs and their teams now meets them there too. No copying and pasting. No switching tabs to check what your peers would do.

TopCounsel: Find the right lawyer 

The TopCounsel plugin is available to all in-house counsel. It answers one of the highest-stakes questions in the job: who is the right lawyer for this matter? Recommendations surface individual lawyers, not just firms, drawn from more than 10,000 outside counsel and vendor recommendations, thousands of peer survey responses, and substantive signals like speaking engagements and shared work product across The L Suite community. No paid placements. You can't buy your way in.

Lloyd by The L Suite is a private, members-only plugin that unlocks access to the full Braintrust knowledge base without leaving ChatGPT: peer precedent for high-stakes decisions, contract issue spotting with community context, benchmarking, and connections to members who have navigated exactly what you're facing. It’s like giving your junior associate unlimited access to thousands of mentors who have seen it all.

What it looks like in practice

Once connected, there's nothing new to learn. You work the way you already work in ChatGPT: ask a question, attach a document, keep the conversation going.

When a question calls for community knowledge, ChatGPT knows to pull in the plugin, or you can call it directly by typing @ followed by the plugin name. Answers come back grounded in real Braintrust data.

A few ways members put this to work:

• Benchmark against real peers. Ask "What's typical outside counsel spend as a percentage of revenue for a company at our stage?" and get actual peer comps and cited threads, not generic industry boilerplate.

• Review documents with community context. Drop an executive employment agreement into the chat and ask ChatGPT to issue-spot it against what the community has seen. Substantive review, calibrated by what peers have actually negotiated. This is the combination a general model can't do on its own: your documents plus community intelligence in one conversation.

• Find the people, not just the answer. "Find peers who built EU pay bands ahead of the pay transparency deadline." The answer isn't a summary. It's the members who have done the work, and how to reach them.

• Choose counsel with confidence. Ask "Who is the best outside counsel for an employment litigation matter in Texas?" and the TopCounsel plugin returns named lawyers with real peer commentary behind them.

Data privacy and confidentiality

The TopCounsel plugin results are based entirely on aggregated and anonymized data. No internal community information or individual data source is exposed.

The Lloyd plugin carries strict access requirements: it is available only to legal departments that are full members of The L Suite, and requires certification of a ChatGPT Business or Enterprise account with training disabled and strict data controls. 

How to access 

TopCounsel plugin: In ChatGPT, open the Plugin directory, search for TopCounsel, and add TopCounsel to ChatGPT.

Lloyd by The L Suite plugin: Available to members on a team membership account, whether your legal department is a team of one or one hundred. Complete the short application confirming your ChatGPT plan and that your full legal department is included in your L Suite team membership. Once approved, we'll provide a private link, and each person on your team can connect using their Braintrust credentials.
