When Kiran and I started TechGC back in 2015, we weren't trying to build a company. We were just GCs who kept running into the same problem: when you move in-house, you're constantly getting hit with questions you’ve never dealt with before, and you can’t just walk down the hall to find another lawyer who has.

So you call a friend at another company, and you just hope they've dealt with something similar. If not, you try calling another friend, and another. That worked. Sometimes.

In fact, one thing I've learned from building this community (and talking to thousands of GCs over the course of my career) is that the best in-house counsel have always had a quiet habit of calibrating their thinking against their peers. Not because they don't trust their own judgment, but because they know they haven't seen everything. Or even if they have seen something before, they understand there may be newer, better ways to handle it that they might not yet know about. The ones who figure that out early move faster and with more confidence than the ones who don’t.

But the problem has always been access – you’re limited by the size and experience of your personal network.

That’s why we created TechGC, and over the last 11 years, this community has come together to support each other in ways we could have never imagined.
