Overview

Lloyd by The L Suite MCP connects Claude to the collective knowledge of 2,500+ GCs and their teams in The L Suite community — cited and sourced — giving legal departments the ability to pull peer insights, benchmarks, vendor recommendations, and shared documents from inside any Claude surface: Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, or Cowork.

Unlike generic AI tools, every answer is grounded in firsthand contributions from fellow in-house lawyers at peer companies — drawing on 2,000+ annual discussion threads, 3,000+ shared documents and artifacts, 5,000+ hours of video content, and 10,000+ unbiased outside counsel and vendor recommendations.

L Suite members — in-house counsel and legal ops professionals under the supervision of in-house counsel.

Note: Lloyd is a members-only connector. Access requires an active L Suite Braintrust account.

Example prompts

Once connected, try asking Claude things like:

  • Outside counsel recommendations: “Recommend 5 outside counsel for overflow commercial contracting work for a B2B SaaS company.”
  • Peer guidance: “How do General Counsel prepare for their quarterly board meetings?”
  • Recommend peers: "Which L Suite members could help give me advice on standing up privacy operations with a very small legal team?”
  • Find vendors: “Which contract management tools work best at a highly regulated fintech 5000-person company?”
  • Find docs: “Find me examples of decks used to train employees on understanding their equity grants.”
  • Get benchmarks: “What should our outside counsel legal budget be as a percentage of our revenue for a digital health company?”
  • Contract issue spotting: “Analyze the attached executive employment agreement for our new CEO and highlight potential areas for negotiation, risk mitigation, and the latest protections from a company standpoint.”

Setup

Prerequisites

  1. Lloyd is for members-only - An active L Suite Braintrust account for everyone in your legal department (all lawyers and legal ops professionals) is required for access.

  2. A Claude account on Team or Enterprise, with no training on inputs and outputs.

  3. About 2 minutes.

Step 1 — Request your organization’s Lloyd MCP URL

Each L Suite organization has its own unique MCP URL. Request yours using this application form: Lloyd MCP access request form.

Your URL will follow this pattern: https://api.techgc.co/api/mcp/...{your_org_id}

Step 2 — Add the connector in Claude

  1. Open Claude at claude.ai (or Claude Desktop).

  2. Go to Settings → Connectors → Add connector.

    1. For Claude Team / Enterprise, the flow is Organization → Settings → Connectors → Add connector. This may be restricted to admins in your team’s workspace.

  3. Paste the Lloyd MCP URL provided to your organization.

  4. Click Connect.

Step 3 — Authenticate with your Braintrust account

  1. You’ll be asked to sign in to The L Suite Braintrust via OAuth.

  2. Sign in with the email associated with your L Suite membership.

  3. You’ll be redirected back to Claude. The connector status should show Connected.

Step 4 — Verify the connection

Start a new Claude conversation and ask: “Using Lloyd, find 3 peer recommendations for outside employment counsel in California used by Series B–D companies.”

If Claude responds with recommendations and peer context, you’re set. If not, see Troubleshooting below.

What it does

get_peer_insights

Surfaces peer-generated insights, guidance, benchmarks, and shared documents from across The L Suite community. Results are cited and sourced, filterable by practice area, company profile, stage, and matter type.

find_vendors

Returns peer-recommended vendors (contract management, e-signature, privacy, legal ops tools, etc.) tailored to a company’s profile, regulatory context, and team size.

Troubleshooting

“Connector failed to connect”

  • Confirm the Lloyd MCP URL was pasted exactly, with no trailing spaces.

  • Confirm you’re on a Claude plan that supports custom connectors (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise).

  • Confirm your L Suite Braintrust account is active and the email you used to sign in matches your L Suite membership.

  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting from Settings → Connectors.

“No results” for queries that should return matches

  • Make the prompt more specific (practice area + company stage + matter type works best).

  • Try invoking the connector explicitly: “Using Lloyd, …”

  • If results still look wrong, email mcp-support@lsuite.co — our team reviews every report.

Claude doesn’t call the Lloyd tools even when relevant

  • Explicitly invoke it: “Using Lloyd, …”

  • Verify the connector is toggled on for the current conversation (look for the connector chip in the composer).
