Introducing Counsel, an L Suite Community

A note from our founders

Counsel Members:

We’re thrilled to officially welcome you to The L Suite’s Counsel community, the new parent brand we launched to bring together our diverse member base while continuing to focus your day-to-day experience around a core group of your closest peers.

As part of this update, the community formerly known as DeputyGC has been split into two new communities under The L Suite umbrella - Deputy and Counsel. Counsel (your community) is a bespoke community that has been curated specifically for high-performing in-house counsel like you.

Rest assured that your primary membership experience isn’t going to change all that much - this structure simply formalizes how we have informally organized the community for some time now. You will continue to have access to the same breadth of virtual events and Braintrust resources that you’ve had in the past. On top of that, we are developing new content and resources that are specifically designed for the unique challenges you face in your day-to-day job. We are also adding a variety of new in-person and virtual networking events that provide opportunities for you to interact with peers facing similar challenges as you. Your new community provides a trusted space to ask your peers for advice and build the relationships that will help you advance in your careers.

This new brand also provides a powerful new nomenclature. The L Suite is a nod to the common C-Suite terminology, acknowledging “Legal” as an essential part of the executive suite. We knew we needed a brand that unites in-house legal professionals like you, recognizes the significance of your roles, and supports you throughout your career journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The short answer is, not much. The main difference you’ll notice is that your new community is now more carefully curated around similarly situated in-house lawyers - both on the Braintrust and at events. Otherwise, nothing substantive is changing about your membership experience and you’ll continue to receive the same benefits you do today.

    With this new structure, we will continue our efforts to better personalize your experience, including Braintrust discussions and events filled with peers that are more closely aligned to your particular company size/stage, industry, experience level, etc. We have much more to come on this front over the course of the year, so stay tuned!

    FYI - we also made a few non-substantive changes to the Membership Agreement, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Use to account for The L Suite terminology.

  • We have always taken a slow and deliberate approach to expanding this community, as we understand that the magic is in its careful curation. It's the experience of being in a room (whether physically or virtually) with a group of your closest peers, the ones that have navigated similar challenges as you have and are willing to listen and assist you in a safe space that sets it apart.

    Over time, as we expanded to include a wider range of in-house counsel, we knew there would come a point when we would need to split the community to better personalize the experience around peer groups that have similar job responsibilities. That point has now come, and we’re excited to focus your membership experience around a community of your closest peers.

  • No, membership dues are not changing as part of this update.

  • The URL of the Braintrust platform will change to https://braintrust.lsuite.co (but the old URL will redirect to this new one if you forget). You’ll also see a slightly updated look. There are no other major changes to the Braintrust today, but you can expect to see a more personalized experience and some exciting new features in the coming months!

  • Your events lineup for this year was created with these changes in mind, and you’ll find more curated peer groups at virtual event breakout sessions. Based on your feedback, we’re also adding more social and networking events. You can see all Counsel events here: lsuite.co/events. 

  • Please see here for more details about the membership criteria for each of our communities. If you believe you should be in a different community after reviewing this criteria, please feel free to reach out to support@lsuite.co and let us know why.

  • Our team remains one collaborative organization focused on serving you. All emails that used to come from ‘@techgc.co’ (including from the Braintrust, daily digests, newsletters, event invites, notes from our team, etc.) will now come from the ‘@lsuite.co’ domain, so please make sure to add this new domain (and @splash.events, our event platform) to your “safe senders list.” See instructions here.

  • Now is a great time to unlock the benefit of an L Suite membership for everyone on your team. Please email support@lsuite.co with the following information for each team member you would like to nominate and we will reach out to them to confirm their membership:

    • Full name

    • Title

    • Email

  • The first step is to change your Employment Status on your profile. Our team will reach out to you if there's a potential strong fit for a confidential role for you based on your job status and profile.
